Become a Friend of Knolls Wood

The Knolls Wood Preservation Society began in the 1970s . Their successful campaigning over the years has kept the wood open to public access while also retaining its character. Read more about the history of the Friends.
Today, in addition to the principal aim of protecting Knolls Wood for people to be able to enjoy its plants, trees and wildlife, the Friends aim through their conservation and education efforts to promote the mental and physical health benefits of this woodland haven.
No fees are charged for becoming a Friend, members must simply be interested in actively furthering the purposes of the association. The association operates on a budget using donations and fundraising by the committee to cover day-to-day expenses and for special projects (such as major re-plantings).
Friends must simply be interested in actively furthering the purposes of the association – primarily the protection and maintenance of Knolls Wood, and to support it and actions that may have to be taken.
Friends are expected to engage with the committee on issues, give direction, receive reports and elect committee members through meetings.
Many Friends and their families using Knolls Wood monitor the site regularly and take part in Volunteer Action Days.
We are open to anyone – whether with an interest in nature and wildlife or caring about Knolls Wood, particularly the friends and families of local people who share that enthusiasm.
