Joining the Committee

Meeting four times a year (currently in the evening at Rushmere Country Park) Friends on the Committee help administer and manage its activities to fulfil the objectives of the Friends’ Articles of Association. Some bring specific experience or abilities, and there are opportunities to become involved in matters of interest.
It is not onerous, Friends on the Committee just need be able and have some time to help administer and manage its activities. There are opportunities to become involved in matters of interest.
The Committee consists of the Officers: Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and up to six others. The responsibilities of each Officer are self-explanatory; others may have social media, communications, a nature / wildlife bent or some other characteristic to bring to discussions.
In practice, the Committee fulfils the Objectives in the Friends’ Articles of Association (our constitution) including: to protect and maintain the woodland - its character and wildlife; work with the Council and the Greensand Trust; see the Management Plan for the Wood is followed and reviewed; raise and manage funds; promote the Association and its activities using its website & social media etc; organise events and communications; recruit and create tasks for Volunteers; communicate with Members and organise General Meetings.
Meetings four times a year last a couple of hours (currently in the evenings at Rushmere Country Park); and occasional video or conference calls. (Anyone unable to attend is asked to convey their opinions to help decisions.)
