Fauna of Knolls Wood

The lack of a well developed understorey used for cover, may be affecting the birds and small mammal populations, but more typical woodland bird species are present in reasonable numbers.

Although no specific survey has been undertaken we don't believe there is a wide variety of wildlife. Badgers have been seen (an old sett is known but not necessarily still in use) and muntjac are common. Grey squirrels also thrive in large numbers in the wood. Once again we would welcome members' and visitors' contributions in terms of 'sightings', photographs or information on the birds and animals seen in the woods. These lists are by no means complete but based on observations and previous records.
